FRANCHISE LAW Hunt & Jeppson attorneys represent a number of franchisors, master area franchisors, area developers, and franchisees in a wide array of franchise businesses and matters. Franchisors We work with clients from the idea stage, through concept development, protection of intellectual property rights (see below), opening and operation of a model or first business, to drafting of Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDD), including Franchise Agreements, and filing and registration with California and other states. Operationally, our attorneys represent clients in selling franchises, assisting with training area developers and franchisees, preparing financing agreements, security agreements and UCC 1 filings, defaulting franchisees, and franchisee terminations. Franchisees Our attorneys have represented franchisees in negotiations with franchisors, lease negotiations and reviews, employment matters, dealing with contractors, and so forth. We have defended franchisees in court from franchisor claims, up through appeal, and have successfully resolved claims by lenders and landlords. Additional Information In addition to specifically franchise matters, Hunt & Jeppson advises and represents franchise businesses at all levels with their corporate and general business matters as well. (See Business & Corporate Law.)
