A native of Arizona, Mr. Hunt holds Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws, Taxation, degrees from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. At McGeorge, Mr. Hunt was in the top of his class and, therefore, was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the Traynor Honor Society. He also served as President of the Moot Court Executive Committee, and was selected to receive the Outstanding Graduating Student award. Mr. Hunt also previously served as an instructor in Legal Research and Writing at McGeorge, and for six years served as the Director of International Advocacy, and Director of the Business & Community Development Clinic at McGeorge.

For over fifteen years before entering the practice of law, Mr. Hunt held executive positions both in the U.S. and abroad with major multinational corporations. With his wealth of management and administrative experience, Mr. Hunt brings a “real world” pragmatism to bear on his work for the Firm’s clients. He emphasizes a wide range of counseling, drafting and litigation work, including public agency and special district representation, redevelopment, environmental (primarily CEQA), and employment law, and serves as both special and general counsel to many of our public entity clients.

Mr. Hunt’s practice has focused on public agency law, and he now represents over 25 Public Cemetery Districts throughout the State of California, in addition to consulting with cities and counties on cemetery matters. Mr. Hunt is currently General Counsel for the Public Cemetery Alliance, and serves as special advisor to the California Legislature in its review and re-write of California cemetery law.

Mr. Hunt regularly writes and speaks to groups on a number of issues affecting public agencies, including, for example:

  • The Ralph M. Brown Act “Open Meeting” law
  • Special district governance—responsibilities and interface of governing boards and district management
  • Employment practices and issues
  • Contracting and purchasing, avoiding legal pitfalls

He is admitted to practice before all the courts of California, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California, as well as the Court of Appeal for the District of Columbia.

Eric O. Jeppson

Eric Jeppson, a founder of Hunt & Jeppson, LLP holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Law after graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and a minor in Business Management. While in law school he served two years on the Oregon Law Review, one as a Managing Board Member. He also was an Officer of the Law and Entrepreneurship Student Association which sparked his desire to eventually own his own law firm. After gaining experience at two of the region’s largest firms, he went out on his own. Two years later, Mr. Jeppson joined forces with Mr. Hunt to form Hunt & Jeppson, LLP.

Mr. Jeppson’s practice emphasizes property, construction, and commercial issues, including real estate, business litigation, zoning and entitlements, and public contract law. He represents developers, businesses and investors, general contractors, subcontractors, property owners, counties, small business owners, cities, and joint power authorities.

With his experience in both transactional and litigation matters, Mr. Jeppson excels in achieving positive outcomes for his clients faced with litigation by guiding them through the complexities and overcoming opposition. In transactional matters, he helps his clients succeed by “making the deal” rather than “breaking the deal.”

Mr. Jeppson belongs to the State Bar of California, Sacramento County Bar Association, and Placer County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of California and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California.
